Eyelash Frequently Asked Questions

How eyelash extensions get applied?

Lash Extensions are individually and seamlessly applied directly to each of your own natural lashes using a medical grade adhesive, and are never adhered to new growth {baby lashes}, or the skin.

What should I do before my appointment?

  • Arrive with clean eyes and without any eye makeup
  • Do not curl your lashes and do not wear mascara
  • Remove contact lenses
  • Recommend comfortable attire.
  • Recommend headphones if you wish to listen to your own music, audiobooks, or podcasts. This will keep you and your eyes relaxed

How far in advance should I book my appointment before my wedding, or traveling?

We recommend schedule an appointment 2-4 days before your special day. While after the lashes done, lashes area have to avoid water for 24 hours, keep away from eye make-up for 48 hours.

How long will my eyelash extensions last?

Your new lashes will last between 2 to 4 weeks depending on your skincare routine and your own natural lash life cycle. To maintain the full look of your lashes, it will require you to maintain refills every 2-3 weeks.

Are there any risks associated with eyelash extensions?

Negative. Lash extensions will not cause damage to or loss of your natural lashes. Your Professional lash stylist will assess your natural lashes and select the appropriate extension to achieve your desired look and maintain optimum lash health.

Will they damage my lashes?

If done properly, there will be no damage to your natural lash. If you pick and pull them out before they shed on their own, there will be damage. If a stylist places lashes that are too long or too thick for your natural lash, this can also cause damage,

Can I still wear mascara and curl my lashes?

Yes, you can wear mascara! As long as you use the right one! We recommend purchasing eyelash extension mascara that is created specifically for use with lash extensions. However, you can use your regular brand as long as it is not waterproof mascara and be sure to use an oil free remover. Please remember to avoid using an eyelash curler.

How long will it take to apply eyelash extensions and how is it done?

Lash extensions are applied while you are lying down with your eyes closed on a comfortable couch bed. This usually takes about 1- 1.5 hours for a full set of lashes, but also depends on the set of lashes you decide to get. After prepping your lashes, your bottom lashes are protected with a gel eye pad, lash extensions are then applied 1-to-1 with medical grade adhesive. It is a really relaxing, non-invasive treatment and most of our clients take the time to catch up on their beauty sleep.

Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing eyelash extensions?

Yes, you can! Just wait 24 hours.
We do ask you to minimize the chance of wetting the extensions for the first 24 hours of wear new eyelash extensions. After then, you can jump to water and swim like a dolphin:)
* Notice: hot steam may cause lash extensions falling out faster than usual.

How do I take care of my new lash extensions?

  • Do not get your lashes wet for at least 24 hours after application
  • Use the lash wand to gently brush your eyelash
  • Keep oil based product away from your extensions
  • Do not rub, pick or pull your eyes
  • If using mascara, use water based formulas
  • When applying mascara avoiding the root area.
  • Avoid using an eyelash curler
  • Do not go tanning for 24 hours after application
  • Try to avoid exposure to heat, steam, sauna and friction
  • Receiving chemical treatments, such as eyelash tinting or perming

What colours are available?

Black or brown. Miss J Lash Lounge will offer special colour in the different holiday season. Please contact us for the creative coloured lashes.

Can you apply bottom lashes?

Yes, that is Miss J specialty. Only $40 extra can be apply 10-15 bottom lashes for a more glamorous look or for photo shoots.

What if I have sensitive eyes?

Please let your technician know before coming to appointment. We can do a quick allergy test for you. We usually applying 5 lashes each eye and wait for 24-48 hours to find out is any allergy is present. If you still concerned the reaction, we can provide you on a special sensitive glue that is an optional for sensitive eyes.

What if I’m pregnant?

Congrats, we can’t wait to see the babe’s pics 🙂
Our lash adhesive and extensions are safe for use on pregnant women.
It is also good to note that the eyelash glue does not actually touch the skin during the procedure. Eyelash extension process is perfectly safe even for pregnant women. We also provide very comfy pillow and blanket for your back to lying.

What is Classic, Russian volume, Camillia volume & Hybrid lashes?

  • “Classic” lash technique – Classic lashes are one extension applied to one natural lash only, therefore if you only have 50 suitable natural lashes per eye, then you will only achieve a look of 50 eyelash extensions. This methods are perfect for clients who already have a lot of lashes, but want to add more length. Classic lashes look more natural.
  • “Volume” lash technique – Russian Volume is the use of multiple ultra fine extensions, that are hand created at the time of application by the therapist using their specially designed tweezers. Russian Volume is suitable for the client who desires a more glamorous and thicker looking set. we adhere “3D” or “5D” fans to as many natural lashes as required to achieve the desired look.
  • “Camillia Volume” lash technique – Camellia can be applied anywhere from 400 to 900 lashes, made up of multiple lengths, to provide you with that Naturally Beautiful or that Unbelievably Full look! They are 70% thinner than Standard classic lashes so they are comfortable to wear everyday.
    “Hybrid” lash technique – The Hybrid technique is a combination of two different lash application techniques rolled into one set of lashes, such as mix classic and premade fan volume lashes. This methods are intermixed to create a darker lash line and soft fluffy look.

What are Lash Lift Pre-Treatment Procedures ?

  • Eyelash Extensions need to be removed at least three days to 1 week before the appointment.
  • For best results do not use waterproof mascara or curl your lashes five days before your treatment.
  • No eye makeup the day of your appointment. Such as mascara, eye shadow, eyeliner, etc.
  • Remove any eye makeup with oil-free makeup remover the day prior.
    It’s recommended to wash your hair before your appointment because you may not for 24 hours afterward.

What are Lash Lift Post-Treatment Procedures ?

  • No water and mascara on the lashes for 24 hours after the treatment
  • No steam, no heavy exercising that would cause excessive sweating, no hair washing (at home) for 24 hours after, etc.
  • No lash Serums, lash extensions, eye creams for 48 hours.
  • Use oil-free make-up remover wipes to wash your face after the treatment.
